Website marketing tools you should be using
Creating a functional, well-designed website can bring up a lot of feelings. Overwhelm, confusion, frustration—there’s a lot of details to nail down and big-picture issues to sort out.
I definitely don’t recommend trying to implement all of the tools at once, but once you’ve settled in and feel comfortable with the basics of managing your site, there are a few tools I highly recommend for optimizing your web presence and letting your website do some of the work for you.
Tool 1: Announcement bar
If you’re not sure what this is, do a quick scroll to the top of the page and you’ll see a skinny little bar with a message—this is the announcement bar! It’s a great place to place a CTA (call to action) or to catch the attention of a website visitor with a promotion or exclusive offer. You’ve likely seen this on tons of websites while shopping!
Ideas for your announcement bar:
Offer free shipping over purchases of a certain amount
Offer a discount for signing up for your email newsletter
Make an announcement about an upcoming in-person event
Make an announcement about a new collection coming soon
Tool 2: Email newsletter signups
Building your email list is always a good idea! It’s one more opportunity to keep in touch with your audience, deliver them valuable content, and remind them of how your business improves their lives.
Ideas for your email newsletter signup:
Offer a discount or free resource in exchange for signing up
Put it in the footer of your website so it’s visible on every page of your site
Tool 3: Promotional pop-ups
Catch the attention of all of your website visitors with a pop-up announcement.
Ideas for your promotional pop-ups:
Set it to have a 10-30 second delay so it doesn’t annoy visitors immediately when they get to your site
Get creative with the CTA (call to action). These can be used for all sorts of promotions, including email signups, upcoming events, new products, and more.
Tool 4: Automated emails
Automated emails are awesome for sending a message to everyone who completes a specific action. Write an email once, set up an automation, and your email marketing gets done for you!
Ideas for email automations:
Send a welcome email after someone signs up for your email list
Send a thank you note after someone makes a purchase
Check in on a customer who hasn’t made a purchase in awhile
